5. Golden Company vs Dothraki

Highgarden bought us the most powerful army in Essos: the Golden Company. Twenty-thousand men, horses, elephants…
Cersei Lannister
That’s what Cersei told Jaime after he doubted his sister’s chances against all the Lannister enemies in the final episode of season 7.
We got a glimpse of the Golden Company sailing (presumably) to King’s Landing in GOT’s season 8 trailer, glistening in their gold armor. They’re an army funded by the Iron Bank, built on riches (they even got elephants!?!?), and they’re all Cersei’s now.
Daenerys has the Dothraki Screamers, the most ruthless army in all the seven kingdoms (and they do it without armor). We saw them hopping on their horses and shooting arrows; and hopping off their horses and slicing down the Lannister army with help from Drogon in season 7’s “The Spoils of War.”
We haven’t seen the Golden Company in action yet, but I think it’s safe to presume they’re just about the complete opposite of the Dothraki. One was built on riches, and one was built on the strength of the individual. A showdown between the two armies would be MADNESS (imagine the Dothraki charging towards an army with elephants!) and I hope we get to see it!
4. Battle of the Greyjoys – Theon vs Euron

Not for me, for Yara.
Theon Greyjoy
Theon was a lot like Uncle Euron before Ramsey mutilated him into Reek. Thankfully, though, using the last scene we saw of him as an indicator, a**hole Theon is piecing himself back together. He’s going to have to if he wants to get Yara back from his a**hole uncle.
The season 7 finale left us thinking Euron is heading back to the Iron Islands, but Cersei’s final conversation with Jaime in that episode let viewers know he’s actually on his way to pick up the Golden Company in Essos.
Theon only has a handful of men at his side after Yara’s fleet was run-down by Euron, so I’m expecting Theon and a group of Iron Islanders to attempt a rescue mission. A rescue mission mirroring the one Yara led to save Theon when he was Ramsey’s prisoner.
A clash between Euron and Theon is imminent, however, and I don’t think Theon will be able to sneak away with Yara. Fans of the show know Euron is a lunatic and will gladly fight his nephew Theon one-on-one, so I can’t wait to see what Theon does to get away from Euron with his sister alive... if Theon gets away with her alive, I should say.
3. Clegane Bowl – The Mountain vs The Hound

Remember me? Yeah, you do. You’re even f*cking uglier than I am now.
“The Hound” Sandor Clegane
The Mountain may have shoved The Hound’s face into a fire when they were boys, but now The Mountain has the disfigured face.
We’ve known about the beef between brothers Sandor “The Hound” and Gregor “The Mountain” of House Clegane since season one, and we’ve been waiting for them to duel again since the fifth episode ever.
A lot has happened to the brothers since that “The Wolf and the Lion” episode. The Mountain was exiled by Ned Stark, then called upon by Cersei to defeat Oberyn, Tyrion’s champion in the trial by combat.
The Hound said “f*ck the king” during the Battle of Blackwater, then ran into Arya Stark and tried to help her find Robb and her mother in hopes of a payday.
The Mountain was left half-dead, then brought back to life. The Hound failed in his journey, but grew wholesome on the way.
We saw the Clegane brothers face-to-face again in the season seven finale, but we didn’t get the battle we wanted. There’s only one more season left and it has to be delivered! I’m getting super hyped thinking about the possibility of a White Walker Mountain! What if The Hound has to face his brother after he’s been turned by the Night King!?
2. Battle of Winterfell – Living vs Dead

I know death, he’s got many faces. I look forward to seeing this one.
Arya Stark
Living vs Wights.
Night King and White Walkers vs Targaryens and Dragons.
This is what Game of Thrones has been leading to since the first scene of the series premiere.
Daenerys has been on her conquest, fueled by the fire of dragons. Jon has been on his journey in the North, surviving the threats from beyond and on the wall. Now they’ve banded together all the living beings they could to fight off the Night King and the dead.
The ending of the season eight trailer gives us a peek of the epic-ness that lies ahead. We see fan-favorites line up to defend Winterfell from the dead, and one can’t help but think “it’s really all been leading to this.”
Arya’s training with Syrio Forel, time with The Hound and transition to No One has been preparing her to defend herself and her family home so the Stark name could live on. We see her spinning on the battlefield in the season eight trailer, and it gots me HYPED! to see what Arya could do against a bunch of brainless.
Ser Jorah has devoted his life to Daenerys on her conquest of the Iron Throne. Now he has to fight a dead army to ensure his Khaleesi has a throne to sit on.
Brienne of Tarth has vowed to protect every one of the Stark girls. She finds herself on the frontline of Winterfell now, ready to protect the Stark home from being overran by the dead.
Jon, Jaime, The Hound, and Greyworm also look to be shown in what seems to be the same battle during the trailer. If so, this is going to be a monster battle with some of the greatest fighters in all the seven kingdoms teamed up!
1. Daenerys & Drogon + Jon & Rhaegal vs Night King & Viserion

We are going to destroy the Night King and his army. We will do it together, you have my word.
Daenerys Targaryen
This could just be a major fantasy of mine, but with Jon Snow’s true name reveal, and the reveal of the resurrected Viserion… isn’t this bound to happen!?
In all but maybe a minute of the first seven seasons of Game of Thrones, we only saw Daenerys, the last Targaryen ride a dragon. That one, maybe minute came in the closing scene of season seven when we saw the Night King riding Viserion.
Now Rhaegal is the only dragon without someone leading him, and it makes perfect sense for Jon to take that role. There’s a scene in the trailer where Dany and Jon are walking up to Drogon and Rhaegal. This could be a hint at Dany handing over her one of her dragons to Jon after learning his true name.
We haven’t seen dragons really try to go after one another on Game of Thrones yet, so I have no idea what to expect when/if Drogon and Rhaegal clash with Viserion.
A Dany and Jon dragon team-up, though!? Both yelling “DRACARYS” as they fight off the Night King and Viserion!? You can’t tell me that wouldn’t be wild! You know you want to see it, too!
