New England Patriots’ tight-end, Benjamin Watson left Fox News’ host Laura Ingraham in shock when he disagreed with her stance on The Atlantic’s Jemele Hill’s recently published essay, where she suggests Black college athletes should choose to go to traditionally Black colleges, according to the Huffington Post.
Hill’s main talking point in her article is all the money that Black athletes generate for schools like Duke University, Watson’s alma mater while not receiving a penny of that money back.
Ingraham mentioned that Hill’s idea of Black athletes choosing traditionally Black schools is basically bringing back segregation, but Watson disagreed with that notion, saying segregation is brought upon by governments, not choices.
Watson explains that Black athletes choosing these Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) could bring money into the Black community, instead of just giving more money to already well-established universities.
